PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a belt type continuously variable transmission for changing the rotating speed of an engine output shaft in a vehicle and transmitting it to an axle side, with a parking mechanism having improved parking pole assembling efficiency. SOLUTION: The belt type continuously variable transmission comprises a driving pulley and a driven pulley arranged in a case which consists of a casing 1, a housing mounted on the casing 1 at the side of the engine, and a side cover 2 mounted on the casing at the opposite side to the engine. A parking gear 11 is provided on the outer periphery of a fixed flange of the driven pulley, and a parking pole 12 meshing with the parking gear 11, a supporting member (a pole shaft 13) for the parking pole 12 and a return spring 14 can be assembled on the side cover unit.
