PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for preventing an image quality deterioration occurring when an estimation value of R-R interval is deviated from an actual interval due to the fluctuation of the R-R interval mainly caused by respiration in an electrocardiographic synchronization imaging. SOLUTION: This magnetic resonance imaging apparatus derives a time from an R wave to a diastole phase using a position of the diaphragm detected by a navigation sequence and, when the position of the diaphragm is a predetermined range, performs the measurement after the derived systolic phase. Alternatively, this apparatus detects a T wave of the electrocardiogram, derives the diastole phase of the heart from the detection timing of the T wave and, when the diaphragm is in the predetermined position, performs imaging in the diastole phase. This constitution can prevent the image quality deterioration in the delay imaging and electrocardiographic synchronization. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
