PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To freely set the shapes of a transmission opening and a reception opening without thickening a probe cable in an echographic apparatus having a 1.25D type array vibrator. SOLUTION: The array vibrator 16 consists of a plurality of vibration elements 18. Each vibrator element 18 has a center element 18a and 2 pairs of elements 18b and 18c. Whether each pair of elements is operated or not is selected by switch circuits 20. When a code signal is supplied as serial data from the side of a main body 10, a decoder 26 decodes the code signal to control the operation of each switch circuit 20. Since an opening width in an elevation direction is freely set for each vibration element 18, the shapes of the transmission opening and the reception opening can freely be set.
