The gas burner (1) has a gas lance (5) with a burner housing (2) round it to which combustion air can be supplied. The gas lance contains an injector (8) to suck combustion air into the gas lance cavity. At least one part region (15) of the injector can be varied in shape or in one dimensions, to conform to the flow cross section at the narrowest point of the injector.
