The method involves providing a core structure with a folded cell structure having fold valleys that forms continuous open channels (4) with open ends and open channel sides at edges of the structure. Two cover layers are applied on respective sides of the structure. The ends and the sides are closed and sealed by forming an edge seal having a limited spatial volume in an edge region on one of the edges of the structure.
