METHOD OF TREATING LIVESTOCK WASTE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of treating a livestock waste in which nitrogen components in the livestock waste containing excreta are sufficiently converted to ammonia to sufficiently remove ammonia causing malodor in an ammonia recovering process and phosphorus components are simultaneously removed and to provide hydrogen obtained by the treatment and method of using the same.

SOLUTION: The method of treating the livestock waste has a solid/liquid separation process for separating the livestock farming containing the excreta into a solid and a liquid and an ammonia removing process for removing ammonia from the liquid portion separated in the solid/liquid separation process. In the ammonia removing process, the liquid portion separated in the solid/liquid separation process and containing urea is kept at a temperature wherein urease originating in the excreta is activated to produce ammonia and ammonium carbonate and ammonium carbonate in the liquid portion is converted into ammonia and phosphate ion is converted into calcium phosphate by adding at least one kind of calcium hydroxide and calcium oxide. Hydrogen is obtained by the treating method and the method of using the hydrogen is provided.
