<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel cell type reaction apparatus which highly selectively, efficiently and economically produces a valuable compound in a mild condition and an electric power as needed; and also to provide a method for producing the valuable compound with the use of the fuel cell type reaction apparatus, and particularly, a method for producing hydrogen peroxide from hydrogen and oxygen. <P>SOLUTION: The fuel cell type reaction apparatus comprises a three-tank structure having an intermediate chamber formed between the inner side of an anode 4 and the inner side of a cathode 5, an anode chamber 1 in the outer side of the anode 4, and a cathode chamber 3 in the outer side of the cathode 5, wherein the intermediate chamber is partitioned into an intermediate chamber 2A in a cathode side and an intermediate chamber 2B in an anode side by an anion exchange membrane 12, and an electrolyte solution is introduced into the intermediate chamber 2A in the cathode side and the intermediate chamber 2B in the anode side. The cathode 5 is a catalyst electrode containing a metal complex having porphyrin or phthalocyanine-based macrocyclic ligand and a conductive carbon material.
