<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus and an image processing method for extremely excluding any unnecessary brightness information such as a solar light or a background, and for preventing any useless image processing from being performed. <P>SOLUTION: This imaging apparatus is provided with an imaging device(CMOS camera 3) for outputting an image signal by generating an image within a predetermined photographic range (CMOS camera 3), a position detection means (laser radar 2) for detecting the position of the object in the photographic range, an image segmenting means(image processing part 4) for segmenting the unit image of a part including an object in the image signal based on detection information showing the position of an object detected by the detection means, a brightness information extracting means (image processing part 4) for extracting the maximum brightness information and the minimum brightness information from the unit image, a luminance value selecting means (image processing part 4) for contrasting the maximum brightness information with the minimum brightness information of all the unit information, and for selecting the brightness information of the maximum value and minimum value, and for defining them respectively as the central low luminance value and central high luminance value of the image signal and a brightness information omitting means (image processing part 4) for omitting the information of the central brightness value or less and the information of the central high luminance value or less among the brightness information included in the image signal. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
