COLOR FILTER SUBSTRATE AND TRANSLUCENT TYPE LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the display quality in a reflection region by an easy method without spoiling the display quality in a transmission region of a translucent type liquid crystal display device.

SOLUTION: An array substrate 1 having pixel electrodes on a transparent insulating substrate 4 and a color filter substrate 2 having color filter layers 12 on a transparent insulating substrate 11 are arranged opposite each other across a liquid crystal layer 3, and have a reflection region A for reflective display and a transmission region B for transmissive display in one pixel. At least part of a color filter layer 12 in a region corresponding to the reflection region A is made less thick than the color filter layer 12 in a region corresponding to the transmission region. On the color filter layer 12, a light scatter layer 13 is formed to flatten the surface.
