PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To have a sufficient effect of reducing drag in a wet type friction member torque even at a position where a lubrication oil quantity is large and at a position where lubrication oil is hard to go through. SOLUTION: In the wet type friction member 1, a left corner of an inner periphery of a segment piece 3a and a right corner of an inner periphery of a segment piece 3b are cut off at an angleαwith respect to a center line of an oil groove 6a so that an oil groove 6b becomes an oil groove of a width almost constant and the oil groove 6a becomes an oil groove having inner peripheral corners 4 expanded atαdegrees with respect to the center line of the oil groove from a position where a height isβmm. In the case of being incorporated in an Automatic Transmission, when the segment type friction member 1 rotates in a direction of an arrow in a disengagement state, Automatic Transmission Fluid supplied from the inner periphery contacts with the portion 4 expanded at the angleαon a rotation rear side as shown by the branched arrows so that the AFT is positively supplied to a friction surface of friction member base material 3a, contact of a separator plate and the friction surface is suppressed, excess ATF is discharged from the oil groove 6b of the almost constant width and drag torque by the ATF is greatly reduced.
