PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a retaining wall block which enables the strength of a vertical wall to be increased against a distributed load horizontally acting on the back surface of the vertical wall of the retaining block due to earth pressure applied to a retaining wall, by placing fill on the back surface of the retaining wall constructed from the retaining wall block, and which can reduce horizontal distortion in manufacture. SOLUTION: This retaining wall block 10a, 10b, 10c and 10d comprises the vertical walls 11a, 11b, 11c and 11d which are vertically elongated with respect to a surface of a foundation, bases 12a, 12b, 12c and 12d which are horizontally elongated in such a manner as to come into contact with the surface of the foundation from lower ends of the back surfaces of the vertical walls 11a, 11b, 11c and 11d. In the retaining wall block 10a, 10b, 10c and 10d, horizontally elongated cross ribs 13a, 13b, 13c and 13d are formed on the back surfaces of the vertical walls 11a, 11b, 11c and 11d.
