PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cyanogen-containing wastewater treatment method capable of surely removing all cyanogen compounds such as a metal cyanogen compound (salt of hydrogen cyanide), cyanogen ion (free cyanogen or cyanogen compound ion), cyanogen complex, and cyanogen complex ion with a simple operation, especially capable of suppressing the elution of cyanogen compounds from sludge separated from wastewater in cyanogen-containing wastewater containing cyanogen-containing sludge. SOLUTION: The cyanogen-containing wastewater treatment method has two steps in the treatment. In the first step, a chlorine gas is introduced to the cyanogen-containing wastewater preliminarily under alkaline conditions, or hypochlorite is added thereto to decompose the cyanogen compounds by oxidization. In the second step, then the cyanogen compounds remaining in the wastewater is treated by a three component system such as a formaldehyde, manganese compound and/or copper compound, and chlorine gas or hypochlorite to remove the cyanogen compounds as a decomposed matter and/or water-insoluble salt.
