PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for cleaning ground water polluted with pollutants by using a cleaning wall, and the cleaning wall. SOLUTION: The cleaning wall through which the polluted ground water permeates is installed in a passage for the polluted ground water. The cleaning wall has a cleaning material, and wall bodies oppositely disposed so as to leave a prescribed space between them and to hold the cleaning material between them. Openings are formed in the wall bodies so that the oppositely disposed wall bodies are nested. Preferably the wall body is made of a steel sheet pile.
