PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a low density printing paper excellent in printing aptitude such as opacity, opacity after printing, etc., even though it has a high bulkiness. SOLUTION: This low density printing paper excellent in printing aptitude such as opacity, opacity after printing, etc., even though it has a high bulkiness is obtained by incorporating 1-25 solid content wt. % light weight calcium carbonate-silica composite as a filler in the paper, obtained by covering the surface of the light weight calcium carbonate particles produced by neutralizing the mixed liquid of the light weight calcium carbonate with an alkali silicate to pH 7-9.
