PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a packaging device for automatically and surely packaging a newspaper and a sheet to be enclosed in the newspaper together, eliminating a skill-requiring work for putting in a packaging of device the newspaper and the sheet in the superimposed condition by a personnel. SOLUTION: This packaging device is provided with an enclosing sheet supplying means for supplying automatically a sheet to be included at the downstream in the item transporting direction of an insertion opening, a detection means for detecting the supply of the sheet, a control means for controlling the supply of the sheet, and a driving means for supplying the sheet. A predetermined time after the sheet is loaded on the sheet supplying means, a drive signal is transmitted to the sheet supplying means and a part of the sheet is hung down to a fall passage to be in a waiting condition. When the detection means for an item detects the insertion of an item, the sheet supplying means starts the supply of the sheet again, the item and the sheet are fed to a transfer mechanism, and the item and the sheet are packaged together using a film.
