PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet tray capable of detecting possibility of divided printing on a seal paper while also serving as a switch for detecting the type of a recording sheet, and to provide a printer employing it. SOLUTION: On the side of a printer (not shown) having a means for printing a desired image on a recording sheet (not shown), a means 10 for switching the print conditions of the print means depending on the type of the recording sheet is arranged. In the vicinity of a containing section 2, a switch knob 8 for making a selection between printing on the entire surface of a contained recording sheet and printing on the recording sheet while dividing into a predetermined number of sections is arranged. Print conditions are switched depending on the type of the recording sheet through operation for fixing to the tray fixing section on the printer side, and switching can be made between printing on the entire surface of the recording sheet and divided printing by operating the switching means through the switch knob.
