<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication system with which high-speed communication of high quality within a thin and long communication range, such as communication with a mobile body can be realized, and to provide a leakage optical fiber which is suitably used for such a communication system. <P>SOLUTION: An optical fiber 2 is a GI-type optical fiber whose core is so constituted as to have a large refractive index at the center and gradually increase in refractive index; going toward the periphery, and scattered bodies can be mixed. When modulated light is made incident on the optical fiber 2 from a transmitter 1, the modulated light travels in the optical fiber 2, but a part of it leaks from the flank of the optical fiber 2. A receiver 3 receives this leak light and demodulates it to obtain information. Since the optical fiber 2 is the GI type, rounding of the waveform is small and a high-speed mobile body communication of high quality is enabled. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
