PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique, by which a process deteriorated layer on the surface of a rare-earth magnet can be restored satisfactorily, using a practical and simple method.
SOLUTION: After a coating film containing a rare-earth element as the main component is formed on the surface of the elemental magnet body of the rare-earth magnet, heat treatment is performed in two stages, by setting the temperature of the second-stage heat treatment higher than that of the first-stage heat treatment. For example, the first-stage heat treatment is performed at a temperature, at which the solid-phase reaction advances, and the second-stage heat treatment is performed at a temperature at which a liquid phase is produced. Alternatively, the first-stage heat treatment is performed at a temperature lower than the melting point of the coating film, and the second-stage heat treatment is performed at a temperature equal to or higher than the melting point of the coating film. The coating film is formed after the elemental magnet body is worked mechanically to a prescribed thickness. At the time of forming the coating film, the thickness of the elemental magnet body is ≤2 mm.
COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
