PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the optimum form of a differential gear in a horizontal engine type four-wheel drive vehicle. SOLUTION: This differential gear 102 comprises an axle shaft 105 provided inward to rotate through a ring gear that is engaged with a final gear in a transmission 101. A transfer 103 is disposed on the rear of the differential gear to be engaged with a drive gear of the differential gear to drive a propeller shaft to drive rear wheels. The ring gear 10 and the drive gear 11 are provided to be coaxial to the axle shaft, and axially offset from it. A differential case of the differential gear has a first thin part 12 formed like a circular recess in an inner diameter part to be positioned around the axle shaft, and a second thin parts 13 formed like recesses between boss parts that are formed at a prescribed interval for forming female threads for installing the drive gear on a drive gear mounting surface.
