摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device for an internal combustion engine, enabling a smooth switching from 4-cycle spark ignition operation to 2-cycle self-ignition operation. SOLUTION: The electric control device 70 increases the opening of a throttle valve 48 as well as changes intake valve 32 operation from late closing operation to early closing operation, before starting supercharging with a supercharger 46, when switching the 4-cycle spark ignition operation to the 2-cycle self-ignition operation. Then, the electric control device starts supercharging, controls the timing of closing the intake valve so as not to change the amount of air flowing into a combustion chamber 25, during the period between the start of the supercharging and the start of the 2-cycle self-ignition operation. At the same time, the electric control device performs a variety of controls including changing the throttle valve opening and ABV 45 opening respectively toward those for the 2-cycle self-ignition operation, advancing ignition timing, and maintaining the amount of fuel injection constant.
