Method for controlled lubrication of bearings has integral lubrication activated by the movement of the bearing parts

A method for long term lubrication of bearings which are not connected to a central lubrication system, e.g. due to difficult access, has integral lubricant reservoirs (2) fitted near to the bearings (1) and activated by the relative movements in the bearings. This ensures that the lubrication is only activated as and when required. The lubrication control can be either by a switch (5) activated mechanically or by an electric drive comprising inductive coils and permanent magnets.
