PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data processing method corresponding to variations in the rate of data transfer with an external memory medium.

SOLUTION: A method for dynamically processing data includes: a step (block 302) of determining a sustainable data transfer rate for data transfers between a data appliance 100 and an external memory medium 106; a step (block 304) of selecting a value for at least one operational parameter inside the data appliance 100 in accordance with the sustainable data transfer rate; and a step (block 306) of processing data according to at least the one operational parameter.
