PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyester fiber having a side-by-side structure, produced by using a polyester derived from an acid component composed mainly of terephthalic acid and a glycol component composed mainly of trimethylene glycol and/or tetramethylene glycol, and capable of suppressing the abrasion of metallic parts of a loom in the case of weaving the fiber. SOLUTION: The polyester fiber has a side-by-side structure composed of two types of polymers having different viscosity. The high-viscosity component is a polyester derived from an acid component composed mainly of terephthalic acid and a glycol component composed mainly of trimethylene glycol and/or tetramethylene glycol and the fiber is coated with 0.1-3 wt.% treating agent containing (A) a polyether having an average molecular weight of 2,000-10,000 and (B) an alkylphosphate metal salt having a 12-18C alkyl group.
