PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an engine 100 provided with EGR means 23 re-circulating exhaust gas to an air intake passage 12 not requiring to provide the plurality of air intake passages 12 for one combustion chamber 1, capable of surely suppressing generation of NOx by re-circulating sufficient quantity of exhaust gas E by creating exhaust gas concentration distribution in the combustion chamber 1 with a simple structure while keeping a combustion condition in the combustion chamber 1 stable. SOLUTION: The EGR means 23 is constructed to be capable of re-circulating exhaust gas E to the air intake passage 12 in a form that a rich exhaust emission part ER where exhaust emission is rich distributes unevenly on a rear end side in an intake air domain IA where new air I sucked in the combustion chamber 1 exists in next intake stroke of the air intake passage 12.
