The invention concerns a housing for a transmission that forms an input-side chamber (32) for at least one gear train and, as a single piece, a partition (34) and an output-side chamber (33) for an output shaft (51), which supports an output gear (50) and which is mounted in a bearing bore (53) in the partition (34) and in an output-side bearing bore (55). The output-side bearing bore (55) has a larger diameter than the gear (50). This enables it be mounted, optionally in an assembled unit with the output shaft (51) and bearings (52, 54), through the output-side bearing bore (55). An additional mounting opening is not required. The output-side chamber (33) advantageously has an undercut-free design, namely due to a surface (57), which is joined to the output-side bearing bore (55), and to a surface (61) that, without undercuts, is joined to a mounting opening (62) located inside the partition (34).
