A winter sports lace-up boot for e.g. snowboarding has a first lace section (11f, 11g) that extends from the sole (1) centre section (3) over the instep. The lace has a second section (11e, 11h) that extends from the sole (1) centre section (3) above the heel around the shaft (6) outer face, and a third section (11d, 11i) from the same point on the shaft to the instep and back to the same point on the shaft. Each of the three lace sections forms a triangle covering the ankle zone (F2, F4).
