<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a musical sound data reproducing device capable of loop reproduction of compressed musical sound data without producing a silent section. <P>SOLUTION: Musical sound data in a ROM 11 consist of compressed data, 1st PCM data (uncompressed) arranged at its head, and 2nd PCM data which are arranged at its tail part. For reproduction, a PCM data readout part 12 reads out the PCM data at the head part and outputs them to a D/A converter 16 through a switching part 15. Consequently, a musical sound at the head is generated. Simultaneously, a compressed data readout part 13 reads out the compressed data and a decoder 14 decodes them. Once the musical sound generation based upon the PCM data at the head part is completed, the switching part 15 is switched and a musical sound based upon the output of the decoder 14 is generated. When the musical sound based upon the output of the decoder 14 ends, the PCM data at the tail part are read out to generate a musical sound.
