<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a sudden acceleration occurring at the point when a vehicle speed is transferred from a state not reaching a target vehicle speed to a state of being released from the load by the application of a large load from occurring, and to reduce a shock by the sudden acceleration, or to remove the sense of incongruity in the operating feeling. <P>SOLUTION: A controller 30 finishes a first control and makes the control transfer to a second control when a period of time while a variance between a target vehicle speed Vp and an actual vehicle speed vr becomes a specified level (threshold value)ΔVth or higher is a specified period of time (threshold value) T1 or longer (at the point when the period of time has reached the specified period of time T1). By the second control, the target vehicle speed Vp1 is corrected to a lower value in response to the present actual vehicle speed vr1. In concrete, the target vehicle speed Vp1 is a vehicle speed for which a specified increase portionαis added to the present actual vehicle speed vr1, and the vehicle speed vr1+αwhich is lower than the original target vehicle speed Vp1 at the point t13 of the first control completion is made a corrected target vehicle speed Vp2(<Vp1).
