PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical isolator which has an excellent isolation characteristic by reducing the influence of stress due to a difference in a coefficient of thermal expansion. SOLUTION: The optical isolator is constituted by fixing an optical isolator element comprising a flat plate type Faraday rotator and a polarizer, and a magnet which is arranged closely to the optical isolator so that mutual flanks face each other and applies magnetic field to the Faraday rotator on a substrate through a joining material.
