PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable simple key operation detection processing in an information processing unit for processing key inputs, reducing the number of input ports relative to the number of keys to the maximum extent. SOLUTION: The information processing unit includes an input means having key switches SW1-15, and a central processing unit 5 which detects open/close states of the key switches, and executes processing corresponding to the key information. To each key switch, a different binary number is added beforehand. When a key switch is closed, each digit of a bit signal being encoded to a binary number corresponding to the key switch is supplied to input ports IN1-4 of the central processing unit 5 through bit lines 9-12, so as to identify the relevant key.
