PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a double action hydraulic cylinder device capable of providing large thrust for both mould closing and mould opening, in injection moulding of resin and the like. SOLUTION: The double action hydraulic cylinder device has a piston member 12 for separating inside of a cylinder tube 11 into two cylinder chambers 23a, b and a driving member 15, provided in a hollow hole 18 of a rod 13 in a manner movable in an axial direction, for forming two driving chambers 19a, b in the hollow hole of which effective pressure receiving areas are smaller than that of the cylinder chamber. Each cylinder chamber communicates with either of the driving chambers via communication routes 132a, b provided at the rod and the cylinder chambers and the driving chambers are filled with fluid. Increased thrust is generated to the piston member by applying fluid pressure generated at the driving chambers to the cylinder chambers by providing thrust to the driving member from outside and moving it.
