PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper sheet feed roller capable of maintaining good the friction coefficient of the rubber roll surface by suppressing attachment of a polymerize toner and/or wax to the rubber roll surface. SOLUTION: The sheet feed roller consists of rubber compound containing short fibers having a mean fiber diameter of 10-100μm, including the limits, and a mean fiber length of 0.01-4 mm, including the limits, wherein at least part of the short fibers are oriented at an angle of 10-90 degs. in the radial direction relative to a plane contacting with the roller surface, and one-side ends are exposed at the roller surface.
