PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pneumatic radial tire for further improving high-speed durability. SOLUTION: The pneumatic radial tire is provided with a band layer 9 on an outer side of a belt layer 7. The band layer 9 is formed by spirally winding a small width band like ply 9A which is formed by coating a band cord arrangement with a plurality of band cords arranged in parallel with topping rubber 11, on an outer side of the belt layer 7. The topping rubber 11 comprises a first rubber material R1 with staple fibers contained, arranged on a surface on one side of the band like ply 9A, and a second rubber material R2 with no staple fiber, arranged on a surface on the other side of the band like ply 9A.
