PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve efficiency when sludge is treated by efficiently doing the work of separating original sludge into a solid and a liquid. SOLUTION: The method for continuously separating original sludge into the solid and the liquid comprises: the operation of supplying original sludge to an evacuated vessel 3 in which original sludge can be degassed in reduced pressure and the internal pressure of which can be reduced, foaming the gas dissolved in the supplied original sludge in reduced pressure, collecting the solid content of the original sludge in the upper part of the evacuated vessel 3 by entraining the solid content by the foamed gas and discharging the solid content collected in the upper part of the evacuated vessel 3 and the foamed gas from the upper part of the evacuated vessel 3; the operation of discharging the separated liquid collected in the lower part of the evacuated vessel 3 from the lower part of the evacuated vessel 3; and the operation of supplying the original sludge into the evacuated vessel 3. The original sludge is separated into the solid and the liquid in the evacuated vessel 3 by degassing the original sludge continuously in reduced pressure while controlling the discharge speed of the solid content with the degassed gas, the discharge speed of the separated liquid and the supply speed of the original sludge when the above operations are performed.
