PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a membrane element capable of ensuring high gas removing efficiency, and a suitable assembling structure of a membrane unit obtained by laminating and connecting the membrane elements. SOLUTION: In the membrane element, a pair of membranes 3 and 3 are attached to the openings 24 of a support frame 2 in an opposed state, water channels 11 are formed between the membranes 3 and 3, a water inlet and a water outlet 31 and 32 communicating with the water channels 11 are respectively provided to both end parts of the parallel surfaces 2b of the membranes 3 and 3, and water inlet and outlet two holes 26 and 26 communicating with the water inlet and water outlet 31 and 32 are provided to two opposed surfaces 2a and 2a of the support frame 2 one by one. By this constitution, the route lengths of the water channels 11 can become large and, when water flows through the water channels 11, the flow state of water gradually disturbed with the advance of the flow of water to get into a turbulent flow state and the amount of water flowing in the vicinity of the membranes 3 is increased. As a result, the contact areas of the membranes 3 with water increase and the dissolving action of the polluted gas in air into water is accelerated to obtain high gas removing efficiency.
