The bookshelf (10) has sloping slots (14, 16) in its underside (12). The upper sections (24, 28) of angled brackets (20, 22) attached to the ends of a spring hoop (32) fit into these. The hoop acts as a hanging book support. The slots are at an angle of 10 - 80[deg] to the underside of the shelf. An independent claim is included for the hanging book support.
