<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical pickup apparatus for efficiently coupling luminous flux from a plurality of light sources in simple configuration. <P>SOLUTION: The optical pickup apparatus is provided with two light sources 11L. 12L corresponding to a DVD 15a and a CD 15b (optical information recording media), a beam splitter 20 for multiplexing and demultiplexing the luminous flux from the two light sources, a coupling lens system (coupling lens) 30 which is comprised of first coupling lenses (a group of lenses) 31 and second coupling lenses (a group of lenses) 32 common for the light sources 11L, 12L, and which is for converging the luminous flux by the two groups of lenses and an objective lens 42 for converging the converged luminous flux on recording planes of the DVD 15a and the CD 15b. The two groups of lenses constituting the coupling lens system 30 are disposed while holding the beam splitter 20 in an optical axis direction (a) of the light source 11L.
