<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information providing system capable of reducing resident's burden. <P>SOLUTION: The information providing system 10 is provided with a database part 11 for receiving registration from a resident and storing information concerned with the resident and an information distribution part 12 for selecting a part of registered residents and transmitting electronic mails to the selected residents. In the information providing system 10, a local public authorities are divided into a plurality of sectional areas and managed, and the divided sectional areas and the division is performed on the basis of a plurality of viewpoints. A mail address of each resident and area information in which sectional areas related to the resident are shown in each viewpoint are registered in the database part 11 as information concerned with the resident.
