PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a proton conductive membrane having sufficiently high proton conductivity, sufficiently low methanol permeability and physical strength withstanding the reduction of thickness.

SOLUTION: In this proton conductive membrane having an inorganic porous membrane containing proton conductive organic material, the inorganic porous membrane is formed of a group of at least two kinds of inorganic fine particles having different average particle diameters.
