PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal battery which surely and rapidly starts by fixing an ignition plug so that it can make a flame arrive at the whole fire guide hole of a power generation body uniformly so as not to be deviated. SOLUTION: The thermal battery is provided with the power generation body 1 having a fire guide hole 2 in the center, an ignition plug composite 11 consisting of a frame body 19 which houses the ignition plug, a groove part 6a which fixes and houses the ignition plug composite, and a lid part insulation body b having a hole 6b which is communicated from the groove part with the fire guide hole, and a frame body has an opening part 20 at the base part in order to emit a flame from the ignition plug toward the fire guide hole, and an opening part, a hole, and the fire guide hole are arranged on the same axis, and the ratio of the diameter of the fire guide hole to the diameter of the opening part is 0.6 to 9.0.
