PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bicycle pedal effort detecting device which does not cause trouble in repairing a bicycle with a simple and low-cost device structure. SOLUTION: A sprocket 11 coming close to a rear part of a crank gear 7 of the bicycle and meshing from upward with a chain 9 is provided. A bracket 15 provided with the sprocket 11 is extended downward, and is fixed on a bicycle frame 3 through a load detecting part 23 with a strain gage used. In order to reduce force in a longitudinal direction of the bicycle transmitted to a device through the chain 9, the bracket 15 is provided with a guide 17 for regulating movement in the longitudinal direction. The load detecting part 23 is pin-connected 21 to the bracket 15. The fixation is conducted with a bolt nut 19 with an elastic washer 37 sandwiched.
