PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composite material combining high thermal conductivity and low thermal expansibility and having low production cost. SOLUTION: The composite material contains Ag as a matrix phase and is provided with a skeleton structural of SiC in which the space between grains is connected with Si as a reinforcing phase. Since the elastic modulus of Ag is low, also, its thermal conductivity is high, and further, the reaction between the matrix phase and the reinforcing phase is minimum, the composite material combining highly thermal conductivity and low thermal expansibility can be provided at a low production cost.
