PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a diaphragm device for camera which rotates a diaphragm ring back and forth from an initial position to a prescribed diaphragm opening restriction position by every photography and has suitable structure for suitably stopping a restoration operation of the diaphragm ring to the initial position. SOLUTION: Six diaphragm blades 4 are rotatably attached to a bottom board 1 and a pin 4b is joined in a cum groove 3a of the diaphragm ring 3. The diaphragm ring 3 is rotated clockwise via a deceleration gear 10 by a rotor 5 of a step motor prior to the photography and stopped at a position where the six diaphragm blades 4 restrict a prescribed diaphragm opening. When the photography is terminated, the diaphragm ring 3 is rotated counterclockwise by reverse rotation of the rotor 5, slightly overruns the intial position, is stopped by contact of one end of the cum groove 3a in the length direction and the pin 4b of the diaphragm blades 4, after that sightly returns and is restored to the initial position.
