PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sealing material capable of sufficiently withstanding use under required high-temperature and high-pressure environment so as to enable use for sealing apparatus for hermetically sealing carbon dioxide or a fluid containing carbon dioxide and suppressing permeation amount of carbon dioxide from the sealing apparatus to a low value. SOLUTION: A sealing material containing a fluororesin composed of a homopolymer or a copolymer of chlorotrifluoroethylene as a main component is used as the sealing material used for the sealing apparatus for hermetically sealing carbon dioxide or the fluid containing carbon dioxide.
