PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a low-cost body shape measuring instrument measuring the external shape of a human body by pushing a plurality of rods thereto. SOLUTION: This body shape measuring instrument is provided with a movable frame 5 supported to a support frame 4 on a base mount 1 movably in the front/rear direction, a plurality of rods 6 supported to the movable frame 5 slidable along the axial direction facing the front/rear direction, a movable frame position detecting part 20 detecting the front/rear position or a moving distance of the movable frame 5 to the support frame 4, and a rod retreat detecting part 27 detecting that the respective rods 6 start sliding rearward to the movable frame 5. The front/rear position or the moving distance of the movable frame 5 at a time point when the respective rods 6 start sliding rearward are obtained based on the movable frame position detecting part 20 and the rod retreat detecting part 27 to detect the external shape of the human body.
