<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic electrolyte battery which is superior in charge/discharge cycle characteristics and is superior in high-temperature storage characteristics. <P>SOLUTION: In an organic electrolyte battery containing a negative electrode 2, a positive electrode 1, and an organic electrolyte, a carbon material having a specific surface area of 3.0 m<SP>2</SP>/g or larger and capable of storing and releasing lithium is used as a negative active material, and the amount of carbon atoms, obtained from a peak of 286-287 eV based on carbon atoms derived from a hydroxyl group and C-O bonding by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopic analysis, is set to 10-20 atomic percent. As the carbon material, the content of each of Zn and Cu by ICP emission spectral analysis is preferably 15 ppm or lower, furthermore, perferably, the content of Fe is 100 ppm or lower and the content of Cl by X-ray fluorescent analysis is preferably 70 ppm or lower. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
