<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reflector which can maintain its reflectivity high even when applied to a transflective reflector and an aperture is formed, and a liquid crystal display equipped with this reflector. <P>SOLUTION: The recess 31 is formed with its opening S made nearly elliptic. Further, the shape of this opening S is made so that the straight line section L parallel with the 1st cross section line X passing the deepest point P of the recess 31 are formed as a part of the nearly elliptic shape. The recess 31 forms an asymmetric shape on the basis of the 1st cross section spreading in the depthwise direction from the 1st profile line X passing the deepest point P, and also forms a symmetrical shape on the basis of the 2nd cross section spreading in the depthwise direction from the 2nd cross section line Y perpendicularly crossing this 1st cross section line X.
