<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reform fuel without using a heater or the like, and then to add the reformed fuel into exhaust gas. <P>SOLUTION: A micro-reactor 5 for reform the fuel to lower molecules, and a heating means for heating the micro-reactor 5 are provided. The reformed fuel reformed by the micro-reactor is added into the exhaust gas upstream a catalytic converter 4. Since the fuel is reformed by the micro-reactor 5, a calorific capacity is very small and a reaction field is minute, so that less heat supply amount is required compared with a conventional reforming catalyst or the like.
