PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology of effectively correcting a defective pixel at a low cost. SOLUTION: The defective pixel correction apparatus is provided, which is characterized in to include: a first defective pixel detection section for comparing each signal outputted from a plurality of pixels with a prescribed value to detect a defective pixel; a first correction section for correcting a signal from the defective pixel detected by the first defective pixel detection section; a second defective pixel detection section for comparing a prescribed value with each signal outputted from a plurality of the pixels wherein the defective pixels detected by the first defective pixel detection section are corrected to detect a defective pixel; a second correction section for correcting the signal from the defective pixel detected by the second defective pixel detection section; and a setting control section for setting different values to the respective prescribed values used by the first and second defective pixel detection sections.
