PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a telephone terminal capable of being altered respectively into a code connection handset type terminal or a cordless handset type terminal at a comparatively low cost. SOLUTION: The telephone terminal is provided with: a telephone set main body 1 provided with a terminal section 11 to which the other end of a curl cord is connected while one end of the curl cord is connected to the code connection handset; a secondary battery as a power supply; a cordless handset 6 having a wireless transmission/reception; and an adaptor 5 connected to the terminal section 11 of the telephone set main body 1 in place of the code connection handset and including the wireless transmission/reception for wirelessly transmitting/receiving a signal exchanged between the telephone set main body 1 and the cordless handset 6. The telephone set main body 1 includes an adaptor connection detection means for detecting that the adaptor 5 is connected to the terminal section 11, and disregards a hook switch 15 of a cradle for the cord connection handset when the detection means detects that the adaptor 5 is connected to the terminal section 11.
